ITW: Why use Weglot to translate your website?

This week, I was contacted by Weglot to take part in a "Case Study" interview. It was an opportunity to share my views on this no-code tool, which I use a lot.

Web agency L'Équipe Créative needed a fast, efficient translation solution to promote its hotel and restaurant clients on the international scene. Weglot's one-click installation and intuitive interface were the perfect answer.

Founded in 2015, L'Équipe Créative is a recognized creative web agency and a certified partner of the Squarespace and Shopify platforms. Serving companies active in a variety of sectors from fine food and luxury hospitality to contemporary fashion, L'Équipe Créative has the sharp "creative" eye and cutting-edge expertise required to design unique, impactful websites that meet the specific needs of each client.

Working with well-known brands such as Hôtel Lutetia, Homer Food Group, and TikTok's most-followed French chef, Diego Alary, L'Équipe Créative makes it a point of honor to design sensational websites that impress not only its direct clients, but also its clients' clients.

Hotel Lutetia, one of L'Équipe Créative's clients, needed a multilingual website to meet the expectations of its international clientele.

So it was only logical that this ambitious agency should receive numerous requests to create multilingual websites, reflecting the growing interest in solutions accessible to an international clientele. The Creative Team initially thought that the only way to create an effective multilingual site was to manually develop another website and connect the two using a dedicated button. That's when the agency's teams discovered Weglot, a revolutionary website translation solution that eliminates the difficulties usually encountered when creating a multilingual site. What's more, this innovative tool integrates seamlessly with Squarespace and Shopify. The Creative Team has stated that it prefers to use Weglot for its Shopify customers, rather than the platform's native functionality, because of Weglot's advanced automation capabilities and intuitive interface, facilitating the translation management process.

Deployment made easy

The agency's aim is to give its customers complete autonomy over the sites it has created for them. This meant finding a website translation solution that would also be easy for customers to use. In particular, the solution had to enable customers to manage their translations autonomously.

But, as the agency initially suspected, adding languages to a website turned out to be a nightmare. The team's first idea was to duplicate one website to create others in other languages. The Creative Team immediately saw the impact on their budget and schedules, as the teams had to update the content of each site with each modification to the original site. There was also the question of billing for this service, as the agency needed to be paid for each site update, but could not impose an excessive financial burden on its customers.

When the agency discovered Weglot, it immediately understood that the tool would solve all these problems, and that it also matched what it could promise its customers.

Installing the solution took just a few minutes on Squarespace and Shopify, thanks to Weglot's native integrations.

Once the website had been created and the project completed, the agency presented Weglot to the customer. Ease of use and back-office ergonomics were priorities for L'Équipe Créative, and Weglot ticked all the boxes: one-click installation, an intuitive interface and a simple way to manage translations.

For example, managing translations is a breeze thanks to the Visual Editor. Teams appreciate the ability to instantly post-edit
translations by previewing them in the context of the site. Better still, they can visually filter translations according to whether they are manual, automatic or professional. This gives them an immediate overview of the translations they have modified and those that have not.

Adding translated versions of images is also child's play. The procedure is simple and straightforward: simply paste the URL of the original multimedia file and the URL of the translated image file.

Overall, the interface is clear and simple, with no visual distractions. The agency can then easily pass on the project to its customers, so that they can manage their translations quickly and smoothly.

A simple way to add languages to a site

As a general rule, the agency immediately suggests creating a multilingual site for its customers, especially if it observes regular international traffic. Internationalization is one of the most reliable ways of obtaining leads, which L'Équipe Créative has discovered by providing its customers with multilingual websites.

And Weglot enabled him to offer this service effortlessly.

Instead of creating translations manually (which is not always possible, as native speakers are not always available, either on the customer's or the agency's side), Weglot's first automatic translation layer is used to launch the translation.

The accuracy is sufficient for L'Équipe Créative to deliver a fully multilingual website to the customer. The team can then pass on the project to the customer and present him with the platform so that he can, if necessary, modify the translations via the Visual Editor or the translation list.

The Creative Team also defines certain translation rules in order to launch the translation project for its customers. These include never translating brand names and other company-specific terms using Weglot's Glossary function. What's more, thanks to translation exclusions, the agency can help its customers control the word count by excluding certain pages from the translation.

The agency also takes care of more technical aspects, such as domain redirection, and ensures that the website is delivered to the customer in the best possible conditions.

With everything centralized in a single interface, the agency and its customers no longer need to resort to additional operations, which has relieved them considerably. The experience has been so positive that the agency has created several multilingual projects with Weglot.

In conclusion

Having created over 200 Squarespace and Shopify sites, and considered a trusted partner by each platform, L'Équipe Créative has received all kinds of complex requests. Adding multilingual functionality was initially one of them, but it eventually became one of the easiest requests to handle after discovering Weglot.

Thanks to Weglot's advanced yet simple translation capabilities and L'Équipe Créative's expertise in creating websites that are as stunning as they are functional, the agency provides its customers with the tools they need to build their online presence and reach a global audience.
